Reviews
I have to say it was a terrible experience for the entire family. I was very upset at the state of the food and the service they provided. Firstly we requested a Steak at medium and quite frankly it appeared burnt and tasted like charcoal. Then one of the pizzas wasn’t cooked. The staff explained that it was just how they looked but another of the pizzas looked completely different. A whole other problem was it took them 1 hour to actually provide the subpar food. I don’t know what was happening in the kitchen but they clearly weren’t cooking. Overall the experience was terrible wouldn’t recommend go somewhere else.
Overall, it was a pretty disappointing and lame restaurant, that I would probably not go to again. Nearly everything can be criticized about it, especially the pizzas that were supposedly "the best in Figtree". I would not recommend this place to anyone, unless you really enjoy bland pizzas with no creativity and flavour to them.
Firstly, the flavours of the pizza were very lacking in taste and presentation.
Secondly, the employee used my tissue to wipe a stain off the table. How rude?!
Thirdly, the prices are high. Usually I eat a Chinese places and they can charge a lot sometimes, but they are cheaper. They know how to price a meal!
One positive thing. They respected my request for a cup of ice.
But the atmosphere was grossing me out. I felt icky.
I had a longer review but my phone died and deleted it, so this is it for now.
food had amazing portion sizes for the pastas and were really yummy and flavourful! staff were lovely and coffees came out very quick, the ambience was also really nice and homey. only lost a star because of the wait times for the meals, they were quite busy but we waited about 45 minutes for the food to come out. other than that, would recommend if you’re in the area and are looking for a homey italian meal <3
I’ve been to this restaurant a few times the last 3 months for friends and family’s birthday dinners, and its consistently been a let major let down. Service is dreadful - the food takes 1.5 - 2 hours to come out, the waiters don’t clear dirty glasses or finished plates and instead let them stack up in front of you, you have to continually get out of your seat and find a waiter to place a drink order because they don’t come to ask you while you’re eating… the list could go on and on. As for the food, it’s so basic and overpriced. Pizzas are very thin, small and sloppy (mostly sauce not any toppings). Pastas taste the same as the frozen microwave meal pastas you get from supermarkets. Chicken and veal parmigiana were basically just breadcrumbs, cheese and Napoletana sauce since the the meat is cut so ridiculously thin (it was downright embarrassing and laughable how thin the meat was cut - thinner than the cheap 2-minute pan steaks you get from coles or woolworths). I regret not taking a photo to show this, but I was too hungry after waiting 1.5 hours to eat. Anyways, I won’t be back and I definitely do not recommend it - there are much better Italian and pizza restaurants in Wollongong
We were there twice this week, Wednesday night the food was great.
HOWEVER, we went on Saturday night (4th time in 2 months on a Saturday night). The food was terrible, either myself or my husband order the Amalfi and whilst normally it's a beautiful dish. I can't understand how it can taste like a completely different dish on Saturdays.
Finally got to go to Figtree Gourmet Kitchen after a few missed bookings. What an awesome dinner, staff and atmosphere! The food was absolutely beautiful, timed to perfection and great quantities. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back!
Great service and amazing food. I had the eggs benedict with bacon and it was delicious. Highly recommend this place.
Probably the best pizza I have had in a long time. Absolutely loved every last bite. That cyprus pizza deserves an altar. Well done to the chefs. Keep up the good work.
